The simple Body: The NUDE
It is the natural state of man: he was born naked and it is in this very first moment of the existence and perhaps the only one, that we all are really equal.
The equipped body much more than nudity, informs about the character of a person.
The simplicity of a naked body tends towards the universal, and skin is an envelope much more opaque to the glance than clothing.
The naked body gives to the observer only anatomical and clinical indications of form and volume.
Both mystery and miracle, the range of possibilities of action of the body has always fascinated me. I have admiration for the artists whose body is an instrument of work: dancers, singers, musicians and actors, who share with the public and each spectator, an immaterial work which generates emotion.
Since the beginning I have privileged the drawing of the human body from live models. Each model differently expresses its body and its face, by putting it on in a way which is particular for him. I seek to collect in my drawing this magic moment corresponding to the blue note of the musician.
After a necessary lap of time to think about it, I achieve a choice in the drawings and tears those which I consider without any interest, to preserve only those which touch me. These drawings are for me vectors of emotion, which act as a “Madeleine of Proust”. I nourish my sculptures with them.
